Boys Soccer: 2020 shows big improvement

The 2020 Boys soccer season was one to remember for Coach Kyle Zaber and the Kingsmen. Not only did they improve strength-to-strength over their performances from last year as a program, but the improved record is there for everyone to see.

The Kingsmen Boy’s Varsity went 11-2-3 this season, while the JV went 13-1, outscoring opponents by a 43-10 margin. The boys also got their first win against archrival South Bend St. Joseph under Zaber’s management.

This year’s senior class included Amar Sahbazovic, David Ross, Joseph Shockey, Jacob Shockey, Charles Furry, Nathan Blosser, Brendan Kerr, Micheal Fair, Colin Smithberger, and Vincent Nierzwicki-Trifiletti. Many of these players went on to receive awards for their performances.

David Ross became the Northern Indiana Conference’s East-West Division MVP. He also earned First-Team all-NIC honors alongside Dalton Blankenbaker, Charles Furry and Ty Lacognato.

Honorable mentions included Nathan Blosser, Vincent Nierziwicki-Trifiletti, and Joseph Shockey.

The returning players will now prepare for Coach Zaber’s fourth season.
