Penn swimmers seek State Titles

Penn’s 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, and Sophomore Aaron Dies will be swimming for blue ribbons at the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Championships on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.

Diving competition starts at 9 a.m., with the State Championships and consolation action scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

All competition will be streamed live at IHSAAtv.org.

The top eight finishers in preliminary action on Friday advance will swim for State Championships on Saturday.

Penn’s 200 Medley Relay (Aaron Dies, Evan Dies, Joel Cummins, Connor Craig) placed fourth in the preliminaries in 1:33.55 to advance to the finals.

Penn’s 200-yard freestyle relay (Brock Zuyderwyk, Kyle Brothers, Connor Craig, Joel Cummins) placed fourth in the preliminaries in 1:25.31 to advance to the finals.

Penn’s Aaron Dies placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke preliminaries in 50.16 to advance to the finals.

Penn’s other results in the preliminaries:

Evan Dies placed 23rd in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:55.09.

Brock Zuyderwyk placed 15th in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.25.

Brock Zuyderwyk placed 13th in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.86, Penn’s Aaron Dies places 18th in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.37.

Evan Dies placed 10th in 100-yard breaststroke in 57.46.

Penn’s 400-yard freestyle relay team (Brock Zuyderwyk, Kyle Brothers, Aaron Dies, Evan Dies) placed 10th in 3:10.72.
