Double-Doubles by Applegate, Lutz power Penn to share of NIC crown

Noah Applegate and Drew Lutz each racked up double-doubles to help Penn claim a share of the Northern Indiana Conference crown with a 83-46 victory against Jimtown in high school boys basketball action on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.

Penn finishes NIC play with an 11-1 record. Marian and South Bend Riley each have a 10-1 record in league play and wrap up NIC action on Friday, Feb. 22.

Penn is 18-3 heading to Merrillville on Friday, Feb. 22, for the regular-season finale. Jimtown is 13-9 overall and 7-5 in the NIC.

Applegate, a 6-foot-6 Hillsdale commit, scored 22 points and fought for 15 rebounds.

Lutz, a 6-foot-1 Bethel recruit, scored 21 points and dished out 10 assists.

Derek Derda scored 10 points, and Carter Hickey and Richard Brooks scored nine points each.
