Lady Kingsmen JV Basketball Team Dominates in St. Joe Rivalry Game

Jan. 5 marked a huge win for the Lady Kingsmen JV Basketball Team. With a big rivalry game against St Joe, the Kingsmen pulled through with an impressive win.

By the end of the fourth quarter, the scoreboard read 53-28 leaving the Kingsmen winning by a whole 25 points.

Freshman Starter Anna Sachire states, “I think that that was a game where we all really played with and for each other. I also think the rivalry between us and St. Joe also added extra motivation. So overall I think that was one of our best games of the season and it was great to get the win over one of our rivals.”

The Lady Kingsmen came in strong, leading in the first two quarters 31-11. The girls secured 18 baskets in the first quarter and then followed that up with another 13 in the second. After halftime, the Ladies came close in the third quarter as the St. Joe Indians scored 10 points and the Kingsmen 9. Redeeming themselves, the girls scored 13 in the final quarter. The rivalry came to an end as the ladies won by a long shot 53-28.

“It was a great atmosphere to play in, especially since we were on our home court. Winning as a team, especially against our rivals, is one of the best feelings,” Sophomore Starter Lizzy Green said.

After this match-up, the Lady Kingsmen held a 12-5 record.

For their next game, the Kingsmen will travel to Northwood for a non-league tournament on Jan. 10. The St. Joe Indians on the other hand were left with a 0-4 record and will challenge the Elkhart Lions next.
