On a Saturday last Fall, Shreya Nayee ran a 5K course for Penn Cross Country, and then two hours later, played Soccer for the Kingsmen.

The Kingsmen Sophomore is also a valued member of the soccer and cross country teams, as well as track and field in the Spring. She also has exceptional academic standing, and is involved in multiple clubs within the school. She qualified for the State Finals in both Cross Country and Track, and has been the Northern Indiana Conference MVP as a Sophomore and a Freshman.

To be so successful in so many areas takes a lot of hard work and determination.

Nayee said that a rough daily schedule for her Mondays in the Spring includes waking up at 7:30 a.m., heading to school, where she is in classes until 3:17 p.m., track practice until 5:30, homework at home, then heading to soccer practice from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. to end the day.

According to Nayee, she “balances her time by prioritizing deadlines and important matters, while also maximizing spare moments.”

By doing this, Nayee allows herself to be as successful as she can.

Penn Girls Soccer head coach and athletic director Jeff Hart said that Nayee is a gifted student-athlete.

“Shreya represents everything we hope our student-athletes become during their time at Penn,” Hart said. “As a multi-sport athlete, she connects extremely well with kids from many different backgrounds and interests. She’s got an elite work ethic combined with great talent and communication qualities that make her a unique and positive leader in our school. I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring for Shreya, and for the teams she represents.”

Nayee shows what it is like to be a true overachiever. She is an inspiration and a great role model.
