Girls Soccer: Schrader to play for Lincoln Trail

Abby Schrader will be continuing  her academic and athletic career at Lincoln Trail College.

She has learned a lot with the Penn Soccer program and plans to take that knowledge onto the collegiate level.

Penn soccer prepared me by teaching me the importance of dedication and loyalty to a team,” Schrader said. “It taught me the importance of having a good relationship with your teammates, and being encouraging towards each other.”

Schrader has worked incredibly hard to get to this place in her athletic career today. She truly believes that Lincoln Trail is the college for her.

“I chose Lincoln Trail because after missing out on my junior season due to my ACL tear, I didn’t think I wanted to play college soccer,” Schrader said. “It wasn’t until recently when I talked to the wonderful coaches at Lincoln Trail that provided me with a new opportunity. Taking this route will allow me to play college soccer and then transfer out to a bigger school. It seemed like a wonderful fit for me, so I committed!”

Penn Girls Soccer Head Coach Jeff Hart said that Schrader has been an important part of Penn’s elite program.

“Abby has been a popular teammate because she gives 100 percent effort every single day,” Hart said. “She’s is a culture builder and a high-character student-athlete.  She’s is a strong, physical player who’s comfortable with both feet, she’s got a great feel for the game, and she is extremely coachable.”

Schrader has overcome adversity to get to where she is today.

“(Abby has) battled some tough injuries, but has continued to improve her skills through hard work,” Hart said. “I believe that Abby’s best soccer is in front of her and she will do great things at the collegiate level.”
