Senior Spotlight: Maddie Hazeltine

Madison Hazeltine is a senior, student-athlete at Penn High School who helped Penn Girls Wrestling win three State Championships. She will be graduating cum laude.

For all her four years of high school Hazeltine has been a leader and contributor to the Penn Girls Wrestling team. Whether it was for her teammates, herself, or her team score, she always knew how to encourage, motivate, and work hard to better herself.

“Penn athletics has kept me accountable for my responsibilities, and helped shape me into the adult I’m becoming,” Hazeltine. “With good sportsmanship and discipline on the mat, it helps me off the mat.”

Throughout Hazeltine’s time as a student-athlete she has participated in many activities to make herself a stronger individual. She is involved in Penn High School’s Golden Standard Choir, Freshman Mentoring, and National Honor Society.

“My sophomore year, Penn girls wrestling lost our state title and it was really upsetting so the next year at state and even my senior year, it was all that more rewarding. This year as well,” Hazeltine stated, as she placed fourth at state this year in her weight class.

Hazeltine exclaims how her family and coaches have been there to help and support her, not only in athletics, but academics as well. She stated that her family and coaches are always there for her when she needs them, encourages her, and is always there to put in extra practice when she needs it. “I truly appreciate their dedication to my success.”

Hazeltine plans to attend Albion College and continue her career in Women’s Wrestling, majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in secondary education and a minor in psychology.
