Penn High’s Boys Lacrosse Team delivered a full-force statement on Tuesday as the Kingsmen stunned South Bend St. Joseph for only the second time in program history.
Evan Ma scored four goals to led the Kingsmen to a 9-5 victory against St. Joseph on a rainy and windswept Lionshead Field at Penn. C.T. Loring scored three goals, and Logan Huchko and Dyllan Holt scored one goal each. Seamus Penney dealt out three assists, and Aidan O’Connell and Holt had one assist each.
Cole Potter turned in an outstanding effort in goal with 14 saves.
“Playing our cross town rival and coming out on top means a lot to us as a team, not only because it was a pure team victory but in our history of playing this is our second ever win over St. Joe,” Senior Defender Chris Head said.
“I think the biggest difference maker for our team mainly was our cohesiveness and playing as one unit all night long, and second to that our clearing game went 11/15, which helped us get the ball to our offense and keep it there giving them plenty of opportunities which they capitalized on.
“I’m hopeful the energy and excitement from this win will carry throughout our season and we can keep getting team wins over individual successes,” Head added.
