The Penn Varsity Boys’ Bowling Team won the sectional championship on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. The Penn Varsity Girls’ Bowling Team placed second.

Penn’s Sophia Monroe won the individual Sectional championship for Girls and Mady McGinnis was runner-up.
Next up for the Kingsmen is Regional action in Michigan City on Jan. 25.
The Varsity bowlers moving on to Regionals individually are Sophia Monroe, Zoe Crawford, Mady McGinnis, William White and Aaron Taylor Jr.
In the Boys Sectional, the No. 3 seeded Kingsmen opened action by beating No. 4 Rochester.
Penn beat Mishawaka in the semi-finals. Penn won the first match, but Mishawaka won the second. Due to overall pinfall, the Kingsmen beat Mishawaka to advance to the Championship.
Penn and LaVille tied in the first and second matches in the Championship round. Penn then won the third match for the Sectional Championship.
Competing against almost 100 other male bowlers, William White qualified second, shooting 218-216-258 for a 692 series. Aaron Taylor Jr. qualified ninth, shooting 208-210-206 for a 624 series. White placed third in the step-ladder series.
On the Boys’ side, Will White was named to the First Team All-Conference.
Three girls were named to the All-Conference Team – Sophia Monroe on the first team, and Zoe Crawford and Mady McGinnis both made the Second Team All-Conference.
