XC: Penn sweeps County Clash titles

Penn XC teams dominated the County Clash

Penn’s Cross Country teams dominated the County Clash, winning the boys and girls varsity and junior varsity races on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Penn won the Girls Varsity race with 34 points. Northridge placed second with 50 points. Penn placed three runners in the Top 4, and seven runners in the Top 20.

Lauren Frank won the overall title in the Girls race, crossing the finish line in 19:32.0 to claim the blue ribbon.

Ellie Jankowski was third in 20:05.6, Lorena Daugherty was fourth in 20:08.5, Dani Spring was 12th in 20:38.7; Stella Dimarzio was 14th in 20:51.8, Hannah Selis was 15th in 20:51.9, and Riley Keppler was 20:53.0.

The Penn JV outran Northridge, 25-34, to claim the County Clash title.

Sybil Kurian led the Penn effort with a 22:02.8, followed by Ashlyn Johnson (third, 22:08.1), Aislynn Alkire (fourth, 22:16.4), Anne Loughran (fifth, 22:35.0), Gwynyth Gates (11th, 23:45.5), Alex Blosser (13th, 23:50.4), and Emma Halicki (16th, 24:04.1).

In the Boys Varsity race, Penn won the title with 47 points. Northridge was second with 76 points. Penn placed three runners in the Top 10.

Jonathan Harley led the Kingsmen, placing second overall in 17:01.4. Nick Scheel placed fourth in 17:10.1, and Matt Long was sixth in 17:10.5.

Chad Piatt was 16th with a time of 17:32.4, Curtis Cornell was 19th in 17:38.8, Chandler Neal was 22nd in 17:40.9, and Reis Kennedy was 28th in 17:48.5.

Penn’s JV Boys team finished with 31 points to claim the title. Northridge was second with 40 points.

Nick Sergeant won the individual title in the Boys JV race with a time of 18:18.3.

Tommy Rzeszutko placed fifth in 18:43.7, followed by David Obert (sixth, 18:44.8), Noah Cocquyt (eighth, 18:46.9), Vishal Patel (11th, 18:54.7), and Zac Hall (19:22.4).
