Vincent Horner excels on the Football field and Rugby pitch

Penn’s Vince Horner an impact player in Football and Rugby

Vincent Horner, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back for the Kingsmen, has had great success this season with the Football in his hands.

He also plays Rugby and it seems his skills in rugby are carrying over to the football field and vice versa. When he has the ball in space he becomes very dangerous.

Six games into this season, Horner is making a strong case for All-State honors. The Wild Bunch Senior Leader has four interceptions, returning one to the house, and has returned two punts for touchdowns.

In Rugby there aren’t any blockers, so when I get the ball in Football with my teammates blocking for me, it’s even easier to get more yards,” Horner said.

Horner is an impact player. He has also has two forced fumbles.

“In the position I play in Rugby, the tackling is almost the same in Football,” Horner said. “In both sports my job is to make  most of my tackles in the open field.”

“I work on punching the ball out during Football and Rugby season, so I have had lots of practice.”

If given the opportunity, Horner would love to play Football or Rugby in college.
