Penn Golf Beats Rival St. Joseph

The Penn Boys Golf Team one a close match against rival St. Joseph Indians. The Kingsmen won by one stroke with final scores of 162-163.

Junior Dylan Mounts says this win is huge.

“I look forward to playing St. Joe every season because they are our biggest rival and competition in the area. I think they push us to play our best because we want to continue to beat them every year,” Mounts said.

The Kingsmen finished with scores of 36 from Senior Co-Captain Jack Urbanksi, 39 from junior Jack Yewchuk, 43 from Freshmen Corbin O’Hara, and 44 from Mounts. A major part in that win was Urbanski’s even par 36.

” The rivalry is always fun to play in it because it usually comes down to the wire every time just like this year. After last year’s sectional loss, we have been waiting for another chance to beat them,” Urbanski said.

Although the Kinsgmen lost to the Indians last year in the Sectional, they clapped back to beat them in the Regional by almost 20 strokes. Penn’s ability to continue to beat St. Joe is believed to come from our mental game according to Colten Donze.

“I think our ability to keep calm after bad shots and keeping a better mental game gives us the edge against St Joe,” Donze said.
