Penn Baseball Defeats Lake Central

The Penn Kingsmen recently defeated the Lake Central Indians by a score of 10-4. The teams were scheduled to play a double header but the second game was called shortly after it began due to weather.

The Indians came out hot, scoring three runs in the first inning off of pitcher Dawson French, but the Kingsmen bounced back and scored two in the bottom of the first.

There was no action until the bottom of the fourth. RJ Cromartie came up big for the Kingsmen and hit a go ahead grand slam to take the lead 7-3. Center fielder Cooper Hums had a great game with three hits and shortstop Cam Dombrowski had two hits and three RBIs.

Pitcher Dawson French was grateful for all of the run support he got on the mound, “I’m just glad that we were hitting the ball really well, it made it easier on me on the mound.”

The Kingsmen would go on to score three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning helping them to the victory. Junior pitcher Chris Pelletier loved how the team played together to get the win.

“We played great as a team and it was a great win over a good Lake Central team,” Pelletier said.

The victory over the Indians gave the Kingsmen a five game win streak as they look to stay hot heading to the State Tournament at the end of this month.
