Getting to Know: Vincent Horner

Vincent Horner is a starting varsity corner back for the Penn Kingsmen. He is a junior on the varsity football team.

What’s your technique for memorizing and teaching yourself new plays before an upcoming game?

“Repetition. I get as many reps as possible practicing and perfecting my technique and training my mind as much as possibly so I am game ready.”

What motivated you to play football?

“Watching football with my dad when I was younger inspired me to put on shoulder pads and a helmet and play football also.”

Thoughts on the season and things that could be improved?

“I think the season is going very well as it is the first time we have won the NIC conference outright in the last few years. We can always improve everything but we will only improve if we come to practice everyday with the mindset to make ourselves better.”

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?

“Mindset is everything in this game, if you have a hard-working mindset it will take you very far in this game.”

Top five priorities currently in your life?

“Not in any specific order, School, football, working out, hydration/ eating right, being respectful.”

What have you learned about teamwork from your past experiences on your teams?

“No one player, especially in football, can win the game, it is a combined effort from you and those around you. When everyone does their part great things will happen.”

What is one important lesson you’ve learned from your time as an athlete?

“Trust your coaches and your teammates and always give 110% effort in everything you do.”
