Ex-Penn star Laidig honored

Former Penn High School star Jeff Laidig, who now plays for Belmont University, has been named to the 2016 Good Works Teams, according to the National Basketball Coaches Association. Only 20 student-athetes were named to the Good Works Team. He is one of 257 student-athletes from across the nation (Div. I, Div. II and Div. III) originally nominated for the award.

From his days at Penn to now, Laidig has been an outstanding citizen within his community. He is a member of Belmont’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is a leader in numerous amounts of community service projects in the Nashville area.

In the Good Works Team’s fourth year, the prestigious award honors college basketball athletes that have dedicated themselves to bettering the lives of others by giving back to their communities.

Everyone that Laidig has come in contact with has the upmost respect for him. His high school coach, Penn’s Al Rhodes said, “Besides being an outstanding basketball player, Jeff Laidig is a great individual who cares a lot about his community and this is a very well deserved honor for him.”
