Boys Swimming: Penn wins Sectional Crown

Penn wins Swimming/Diving Sectional Championship

Penn swimmers turned in exceptional efforts to dominate the South Bend Riley Boys High School Boys Swimming/Diving Sectional Championships on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019.

Penn finished first with 492 points, followed by South Bend Riley (412) and South Bend St. Joseph (270). A total of 10 schools competed in the event.

Next up for qualifiers is the State Championships in Indianapolis on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, and Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.


Penn’s 200-yard Medley Relay (Aaron Dies, Evan Dies, Joel Cummins, Connor Craig) won blue ribbons in 1:34.51.

Evan Dies earned first place in the 200-yard Individual Medley in 1:54.51.

Brock Zuyderwyk won the Sectional Championship in the 50-yard Freestyle in 21.17.

Brock Zuyderwyk also won the blue ribbon in the 100-yard Freestyle in 46.95.


Aaron Dies won the blue ribbon in the 100-yard backstroke in 50.77.

Evan Dies won the Sectional Championship in 100-yard Breaststroke in 58.14.

Penn’s 400-yard Freestyle Relay (Brock Zuyderwyk, Kyle Brothers, Aaron Dies, Evan Dies) won the Sectional Championship in 3:10.99.
