Boys Basketball: Penn rolls past Mishawaka

Beau Ludwick ignites torrid Kingsmen attack vs. Mishawaka

Penn Senior Beau Ludwick ignited a torrid Kingsmen attack in the first half and helped Penn sprint past Mishawaka, 75-61, in high school basketball action on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019.

Penn led 15-13 after one quarter when Ludwick took command. He sparked a 27-8 second-quarter run and finished the first half with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and led Penn to a 42-21 halftime lead.

Ludwick finished with 19 points.

Drew Lutz scored 22 points and dished out five assists for the Kingsmen.

Noah Applegate scored 16 points, including two thunderous monster jams.

Applegate is now nine points shy of become Penn’s all-time leading scorer in the Kingsmen Boys Basketball Program. Applegate has 1,425 points. The record was set 55 years ago and is owned by Keith Berkey, who scored 1,433 points from 1960-1964.

Penn (12-2 overall, 7-0 in the Northern Indiana Conference) plays at Goshen on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019.

Derek Derda gave the Kingsmen energy off the bench with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Carter Hickey scored six points and dished out five assists.
