Markus Burton’s 30 points powers Penn past Goshen

Sophomore point guard Markus Burton torched the nets for 30 points as Penn’s state tournament run started with a dominating 57-25 victory against Goshen in the Elkhart high school boys basketball Sectional on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at historic Northside Gym in Elkhart.
Penn’s victory against Goshen in the first-round advances the Kingsmen to the Semi-final round of the Elkhart Sectional. The Kingsmen take on Northridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Burton scored his 30 points on 8-of-11 shooting – including 4-of-6 three-pointers – and 2-of-2 free throws. Burton also dished out six assists and grabbed six rebounds. He also had two steals.
Casey Shultz connected on 5-of-6 shots inside and finished with 10 points. Shultz muscled inside for five rebounds.
Caleb Applegate contributed seven points to Kingsmen victory, hitting 3-of-5 shots, including a 3-pointer. Applegate had seven rebounds.
