Kingsmen Fall Short at Wrestling State Finals

Published on

The Penn Kingsmen Boys Wrestling team fell short at the 2023 Indiana High School Wrestling State Championship. The Kingsmen scored at total of 19 points during the Feb. 18 tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Penn Wrestler Bryce Denton says he’s still proud of his team. Denton scored 6 of Penn’s total points.

“We went in with one goal in mind. That was to give it our best shot and have fun while doing it. I would say both were achieved,” Denton said.

Coach Brad Harper says the focus is now on working to be better next year.

“I’m proud of my guys. I’m looking forward to getting back at it next season and I think we gave it our best shot,” Harper said.

Crown Point won the State tournament, finishing with four individual titles and 167 points as a team. Center Grove finished second with 131 points, followed by Brownsburg High school with 129 points.
