Julia Economou is a senior student-athlete here at Penn High School. She is a great all-around athlete and is committed to Purdue University to run middle distance track and cross country.
During her time as a Kingsmen, Economou has made the varsity team in three sports, Cross County, Basketball and Track & Field.
Economou is known for being one of the fastest girls at Penn High School and has helped the track and cross country team win big meets in the races. Economou also led the Penn Girls Basketball in rebounds and steals.
“I’m excited to start my life at Purdue but a part of me will always love and hold on to Penn Basketball and Penn Track and Cross Country,” Economou said.
Economou won the MVP award for the Penn Girls Basketball team for being a beast in the paint, a great leader and teammate, and dominating in scoring. This year Julia got her career high of 30 points in her senior season.
Economou talks about how she felt so welcomed into the Penn Girls Basketball family from day one.
“When I moved here my freshman year I was terrified but little did I know it was going to be this good of a program and experience. The girls on this team and coaches made it easier and I’ve found my family in PGBB,” Economou said.
Although Economou is leaving to continue her career in running, she will forever leave behind a legacy in basketball at Penn.
Not only did Economou excel on the court, she also exceled in the classroom. She is graduating with high honors.
As Julia goes to Purdue she will fulfill her running dreams and continue to be a student-athlete during college, academically Julia is graduating with high honors.
