Daniel Hardman contributed to Penn High’s tradition of excellence as a Cross Country and Track runner. Now, he will help the Kingsmen keep pursing exclellence as an athletic trainer. With a strong background as a student-athlete, great training experience, and a passion for sports medicine, Hardman is a great fit for the athletic department.
Hardman has returned to Penn after many years of education at top schools around the country. He is affiliated with St. Joseph Health System as he serves as Penn’s Athletic Trainer.
“I decided to return to Penn to be closer to home as I have been across the country, along with continuing to work with high-level athletes,” Hardman said.
During his time at Penn, Hardman was a team captain and earned numerous athletic honors, including All-Conference awards in both Cross Country and Track. His experiences as an athlete give him a better understanding of the challenges athletes face and their desire to get back to training as fast as possible. Hardman wants to be the best athletic trainer he can be so that the athletes are able to do what they do best.
“I chose exercise physiology as it was the program I thought would help me become a better clinician and help my patients get back to where they want to be,” Hardman said.
Hardman has a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology from Baylor University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training from Marquette University. His professional experience includes roles at the University of Iowa, the University of Washington, and Pinecrest Physical Therapy, where he has worked with high-level athletes in various sports.
Penn Athletic Director Jeff Hart emphasized Hardman’s value to the department.
“(Hardman is) knowledgeable, remains calm in stressful situations, communicates well with empathy, and understands the excitement and urgency of being out on the field/court/track competing at your best as a Kingsman student-athlete,” Hart said. “I am excited to watch him grow and excel in this important role.”
With his experience, leadership, and commitment to helping athletes, Hardman is sure to impact Penn Athletics in a positive way.
