Penn Athletics Review April 12-17

Penn Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams excelled against tough competition in prestigious events on Saturday, April 17.
The Penn Girls Track and Field Team placed first in the Carmon Cripe Relays at Northridge. The Kingsmen won blue ribbons in five events. The Kingsmen also defeated South Bend St. Joseph in dual meet action on Tuesday, winning 91-41. India Galaviz-Anderson, Emily Salwin, Nicole Marshall, Julie Smith, Haley Makowski and Ava Gillis won 2 blue ribbons each.
The Penn Boys Track and Field Team placed second at the star-studded Ben Davis Invitational. Penn’s Vincent Nierzwicki-Trifiletti was named the Invite’s Most Valuable Performer. Nierzwicki-Trifiletti took first in three events. The Kingsmen also beat St. Joseph in a dual meet, 93-39. Alec Hardrict won 3 blue ribbons, and Vincent Nierzwicki-Trifiletti and Adam Strauss won 2 blue ribbons each.

Penn Softball beat Glenn, 12-4. Breana Pratt & Deanna Reed each blasted 3 hits, and Maddie Calvin drove in 2 runs. Abigail Widmar smacked a triple and Paige Fuelling hit a double.

Penn Girls Tennis opened the season with a 5-0 victory against South Bend Adams. Winners included Jamie Hurst at No. 1 singles, Mandy Baker at No. 2 singles, Sophia Pischalko at No. 3 singles, and the doubles team of Maren Woelfer and Hannah Sheley.
