Kingsmen Athletics Review May 4-8

Penn Boys Basketball star Caleb Applegate committed to Spring Arbor. Applegate, a 6-foot-2-inch wing, averaged 10 points a game and hit 43 three-pointers last season.
Penn Athletic Teams turned in exceptional efforts in the past week.
The Unified Track Team excelled in competition at Goshen.
Top performances include Shub Pelia with a distance of 16 feet, one inch in the long jump; Paige Carr with a distance of 17 feet, 10 inches in shot put; Tyler Ingram, with a time of 18.4 seconds in the 100-meter dash, and Aidan Siminez with a time of 1:29 in the 400.
The Penn Girls Track Team won the Team Championship of the Goshen Relays. The Kingsmen set two records. Mary Eubank, Julia Economou, Nicole Marshall and Julie Smith set the record for the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 12.41.56. Mary Wheet, Jess Smith, Haley Makowski and Nichole Marshall set the record in the Intermediate Medley Relay with a time of 4:18.94.
Penn Boys Track won the Team Championship of the Valparaiso Relays. Vincent Nierzwicki-Trifiletti won blue ribbons in three events, and Mariano Retzloff and Josh Handschu took first place in one event each.
Penn Baseball extended its winning streak to seven games during the week. The Kingsmen have won 10 of their last 11 games. Highlights included a 5-2 win against state power Fort Wayne Carroll. Penn pitcher Ben Gregory was the winning pitcher in a 6-1 victory against Marian. Gregory has only give up one earned run in 26.1 innings pitched for a 0.27 earned-run average. He has pitched 20.1 innings without giving up an earned run.
Penn Softball beat Marian 15-0. Aubrey Zachary and Addy Kois combined for a 1-hit shutout. Maddie Calvin hit a homer and drove in 3 runs. Breana Pratt and Addy Kois also drove in three runs each.
The Penn Kingsmen Boys Golf Team won the Flo Troeger Invite Championship.
Penn’s Jonah Kumfer wins medalist honors with a 72. Keenan Donze shot a 78, followed by Ryan Hahaj with a 79. Maddox Snyder and Dylan Mounts each shot an 81.
Juli Kirkpatrick scored four goals to lead the Penn Girls Lacrosse Team to a 13-2 victory against St. Joseph. Sequoia Deleu scored three goals. Mackenzie Holland dished out three assists.
Cole Potter made 13 saves to help the Penn Kingsmen Boys Lacrosse Team defeated Marian, 8-6. Dyllan Holt led Penn with three goals. Ewan Ma and Nolan Strefling scored two goals each.
