Hockey: Kingsmen fourth in Nationals pool play

The Penn Kingsmen Varsity Hockey squad earned an invite to the USA Hockey National Championships in Omaha, Neb., April 15-19.

The pool-play tournament had 16 of the best teams for Division 1 High School in the nation. Penn placed fourth in its pool.

The Kingsmen kicked it off against Saint Margarita from California. Penn suffered an 8-1 loss. Senior Riley Planey had the only goal, assisted by Jacob Renbarger and Aidan O’Connell.

The East Lake Eagles beat Penn 8-0.

Penn’s final game was against the Notre Dame Saints of Arizona. The Saints defeated the Kingsmen 4-2. Riley Planey and Phillip Matous scored goals for Penn.
