Name: Cooper Hums

Sport: Baseball

Hashtag that best describes you or your philosophy: #weballin

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned through Athletics?: Definitely the hard work that is put in to being an athlete. That has helped me in so many other areas in my life other than sports.

What are your pre-game rituals?: I always chew sunflower seeds before we start games. I usually like to get through a small bag of them before we start.

Who is a player (at any level) you look up to, and why?: I look up to Mike Trout because he works hard to be the best even though he is already one of the best in the game, as well as his dedication to helping the game grow.

What do you love about representing Penn High School?: I love representing the athletic programs at Penn High School the most. I like to show how we have some of the best athletic teams in the state and that we can compete at any level.

What traits do you love in a team leader?: I love for my team leader to show dedication and grit along with composure. I think those are the best traits for a leader to lead their teams to be good.

What advice would you give a freshman about Penn Athletics?: I would definitely give the advice to incoming freshman to do your best at all times. You can not take any days off or else your spot could be put on the line. So giving 100 percent at all times is a must.

What is your favorite sports movie, and why?: My favorite sports movie ever is, “A Mile In His Shoes.” I think it is just a good representation of how anybody can be successful in sports if they do their best and put their all into it.

What do you love about your sport?: One thing I love about my sport is how it is a mental game just as much as a physical game. You need to be thinking ahead and know how to react to everything that goes on in the game.

If you can have lunch with any living person, who would it be, and what would you talk about?: I would have lunch with Shohei Ohtani. I would want to talk all about what he did to get to where he is because we all know that he had to of worked incredibly hard.

Are you looking forward to this year’s team, and how are you expecting your season to go?: I am super excited for the season to start and I know my teammates are as well. I am expecting us to be good and I am ready to do my part for the team to help us win as much as possible.
