As the 2024 Penn Boys Tennis season came to an end at the State Finals, Kingsmen Coach Eric Bowers announced that he will be retiring as the boys head tennis coach. Coach Bowers will still be leading the Girls Team.

“I had been with the team for over 20 years,” Bowers said of his decision to retire as the Boys coach. “I need to take a step back to spend time with friends and family.”

Coach Bowers said, “I enjoyed the great memories with each and every team,” but will be grateful for the extra time he can spend on things he is passionate about.

Coach Bowers was an All-State tennis star at Northwood High School, and was a two-time NCAA National Champion at No. 1 Singles for Bethel.

Bowers coached Penn girls and boys tennis teams to 31 Sectional championships, 13 Regional championships, and four Semi-State championships. He won the Boys State Coach of the year in 2017 as well. Not only has he accomplished achievements on the tennis courts, he also achieves excellence as a teacher. In 2023, he was named secondary teacher of the year for Penn-Harris-Madison.

The Penn players appreciate their great memories with Coach Bowers, as well as his leadership, organization and helpful tips not only for tennis, but for life in general.
