Senior Cole Bennett has been playing for the Penn Kingsmen for four years now, he has now earned one final chance, which is a huge honor.
Tight end Cole Bennett has earned the right to call himself an All-Star. He will be playing in the Indiana North vs. South All-Star Football Game, This event brings top players from around the state to compete and show off their skills. This year, the game will take place on Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m., at Decatur Central High School.
For Bennett, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound force, this isn’t just a regular game. Bennett said it means the world to him that he can make his high school coaches proud just one more time.
“Getting picked for something like this makes it feel like all my hard work in the weight room and field has all been worth it,” Bennett said. “You work hard every day, and to represent Penn one more time is a huge honor.”
Bennett has spent his senior season making a name for himself as a physical tight end and a great leader, a role he’ll continue to play at the next level. He is committed to playing football at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) this fall.
Still, the All-Star game provides one last opportunity to make his high school and high school coaches proud.
“There really is nothing like high school football,” he said. “I am excited for this last high school game, but even more for football at the University of Indianapolis.
With graduation just around the corner and college football on the horizon, Bennett’s All-Star selection is a fitting send-off for a player who’s given everything to the game and Penn.
