Boys Track: Penn races past Adams, New Prairie

Penn’s Kingsmen ran away from Adams and New Prairie in Boys Track action on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The Kingsmen scored 91 points, followed by Adams with 42, and New Prairie with 34.

In the 4 x 800 Relay, the Kingsmen took a victory on an excellent anchor leg by Freshman Seth Jankowski, who closed the gap with an 800-meter split of 2:06. Christian Marshall, Tommy Rzesutko, and Josh Temeles al,so contributed greatly to the victory.

Sophomore Vince Nierzwicki won the 110-meter hurdles for the Kingsmen in a time of 15.34. Austin Wells placed third in the hurdles with a time of 16.31.

Penn Freshman Alec Hardrict continued an excellent season with a 100-meter dash victory in a time of 11.1 seconds.

Dillon Pottschmidt placed second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:37.0. Ben Boardley finished fourth with a time of 4:41.

Penn finished second in the 4 x 100 Relay run by Lucas Small, Payton Brockway, Hunter Ryan and Brady Allen.

David Obert and Braden Black placed first and third respectively in the 400-meter dash with Obert running a 52.7 and Black running a 53.8.

Collin Mott dominated in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.5. Austin came in third with a time of 45.69.

Avery Richardson placed second in the 800-meter run with a 2:08. He was followed by Tommy Rzesutko who ran a 2:14.4.

Alec Hardrict also won the 200-meter dash with an impressive time of 22.9. Patrick Maclin finished in fourth for the Kingsmen, earning them a point with a time of 24.9.

In the 3200-meter run, Jacob Meek finished in second place for Penn running a 10:06. Romeo Gonzalez placed fourth with a 10:27.

In the 4 x 400 meter Relay, the Kingsmen ran an outstanding time of 3:33.7. The relay was run by Tye Zahner, Ricky Chapple, Tristan Manis, and Seth Jankowski.

Caden Paquette won the discus for Penn with a throw of 159- 1. He was followed in second by Vishal Turna, who threw 142-3.

Vishal Turna won the shot put for the Kingsmen with a throw of 47-7. Sophomore Jason Grasshorn came in third overall throwing over 40 feet.

Penn’s Payton Brockway was second in the long jump with a jump of 19-2. Alec Hardrict was a close third with a jump of 19-1.

Kevin Krutsch continued his excellent season in high jump with a victory on a 6-foot-6 jump, earning the Kingsmen five points. Carson Mumaw rounded out the top four for the Kingsmen, jumping 5-2.

Logan Hill came in second in the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet, scoring three points for Penn. Joey Rutten came in fourth for Penn with a jump of 11-6.
