Penn Girls Golf team qualifies for state

Penn’s Girls Golf team qualified for the IHSAA State Championship next Friday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel by placing second in the East Noble Regional, played on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Noble Hawk Golf Club.

Penn has won four state championships in golf, 1994, 2002, 2004 and 2005.

Homestead placed first with a score of 308, followed by Penn with a 315. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger earned the third state qualifying spot with a score of 325.

Andi Sandler and Grace Szklarek led the Kingsmen effort, each carding a 74.

Kristin Holt shot an 82, and Abbey Hamilton had an 85. Lyvia Li finished with an 89.
