Penn’s Girl Cross Country placed third as a team at the prestigious New Prairie Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The competition was close for the Kingsmen, with Penn losing to Valparaiso by only one point. Top-ranked Lake Central won the meet.
Individually, the Lady Kingsmen performed well against the tough competition with three runners placing inside the top 15 out of almost 200 competitors.
Coming in first place for Penn and 8th place overall was freshman phenom Shreya Nayee with a time of 19:32.3
Second out of the Penn group was Ari Balinnang, who finished 12th overall with a time of 19:49.5
Rounding out the top 3 runners at Penn was sophomore Lila Van Hoveln, who came in at 14th overall and impressed with a time of 19:51.6
The Lady Kingsmen return to the New Praire course in a few weeks for the Sectional Championship.
