Penn Girls Basketball ’25 Comes to a Close

Penn Girls Basketball season has come to a close. This after the Lady Kingsmen fell short to Washington High School on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

The game was a challenging defensive battle. The final score was 28-27. Both teams were ranked in the top 20 in the state, both fighting for a chance at a Sectional Title.

The entire game was back and forth, each team fighting hard. Freshman Addie Hummel earned herself 11 points, and both Jessa Troy and Alivia Dawson scored 6.

“We played really hard the entire game and never stopped fighting,” said Junior Anna Sachire.

When asked about any lessons learned from this season, Sachire said “I learned the importance of trusting in our teammates and trusting in ourselves. We had to trust each other as teammates and friends to be a good team.”

As the season came to a close, many seniors played their last game of high school basketball. Being a part of this team has been important to many of our seniors.

“It means being able to be a part of a group of people that you know you can rely on. Even if you had a bad day you knew your teammates would make you feel better. They always have your back in games and support you. I have learned a lot of lessons that helped me in the sport and that will help me in my life,” said Senior London Jackson, who has played basketball all four years of high school.

Even though the girls lost a heartbreaking game by one point, they made memories that will follow them their whole lives. Their overall record this season was 19-6.
