Star Penn Girls Soccer player Olivia Widner continues to stun Indiana with her resilience and perseverance. While being 6-5 on the season Olivia and her team still seek for a state championship.
Not only has Widner found her best friends playing soccer but she has also found her passion in soccer.
“If I were to describe PGS in a few words they would be hard work, loyalty, and heart. For as long as ive been on this team, we always try our hardest to strive for the best we can be. As long as we show up and put our best foot forward and 100% effort every day, it will pay off. Every girl is so diligent and hardworking. We care so much for one another and we have each others backs through everything whether it’s on or off the field,” Widner said.
Coach Jose Gutierrex says Widner is one of the most talented players in the program.
“We can always count on her to be where she is supposed to be and she is always working hard. She plays “the beautiful game” with grace. She plays smoothe but with intensity, toughness, and grit. Outside of the soccer field, she is a great person to be around. She is well loved by her teammates and is usually caught with a big smile on her face,” Gutierrez said.
Widner has been a staple to the Penn Girls Soccer team ever since her freshman year. While being on varsity all three years in high school, she has put on major stats to help bring her team to the top ten in the state more than once these past few years.
