Penn’s Mary Eubank won first place at the New Prairie Invitational in thrilling fashion. Eubank sprinted to the finish line just ahead of Valparaiso’s Whitney Anderson.
Valparaiso won the team title. Penn finished third.
“Mary ran an incredibly strong race in what is her best cross country performance in her four years of high school by winning the AAA New Prairie race,” Penn Girls Cross Country head coach Michael Clements said. “She led wire-to-wire but held off a furious charge down the homestretch from the Valpo freshman sensation. This win cements Mary’s status as one of the best in Indiana this year, along with one of the best in Penn history.”
