Girls Wrestling Senior Night Recap

The Penn Girls Wrestling team celebrated senior night for the first time ever. This is the first year for Indiana sanctioned girls wrestling as an official ISHAA sport.

The 24-25 seniors are Janiah Juarez, Peyton Dwigans, Samantha Schubert, Giuliana Reed, and Lillia Schlabach.

The Lady Kingsmen took on Warsaw for the big night. Seniors Juarez and Dwigans talk about how exciting it is to be a senior this year after being a sanctioned sport. 

“It feels amazing and I’m so happy I get to participate in this sport with wonderful people . This shows not only the growth of the sport but the growth of a family because even if we are rough on the mat we still respect the person we go against at the end. This is truly a powerful sport and I am so blessed to participate it,” Juarez said.

“It’s an honor to get wrestling this year being a senior, couldn’t have asked for a better team,” said Dwigans.

The Penn ultimately defeated Warsaw the score being 60-24 in the first IHSAA-Sanctioned Girls Wrestling dual meet between the Kingsmen and Tigers.
