Girls Swimming: Penn claims NIC crown

The Penn Girls Swim & Dive team cruised to the Northern Indiana Conference Championship.
Penn won the team title with a score of 626 over second-place Saint Joe with 410 points. Adams placed third with 351 points.
First-place finishers in the NIC meet are named first-team all-conference.
Lily Christianson led the Kingsmen with four blue ribbons.
Penn earned blue ribbons with Alyssa Messenger, Lily Christianson, Avery Woods and Madi Bottorff in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.10.
Lily Christianson placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.13 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.51, setting NIC records in both events.
The 200 freestyle relay of Jordan Koszyk, Madi Bottorff, Nicki Kilbourne and Lily Christianson won blue ribbons with a time of 1:38.17.
Alyssa Messenger turned in a record-setting effort in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.83.
The following all received honorable mentions in the following events: Ebba Fox, Sharon Ni, Logan Koszyk, and Julia Son in the 200 medley relay; Jordan Koszyk and Gabby Costa in the 200 freestyle; Alyssa Messenger and Sharon Ni in the 200 IM; Madi Bottorff and Nicki Kilbourne in the 50 freestyle; Grace Ditmer and Briana Betzer in diving; Avery Woods in the 100 butterfly; Madi Bottorff and Nicki Kilbourne in the 100 freestyle; Jordan Koszyk and Gabby Costa in the 500 freestyle; Julia Son, Sharon Ni, Lauryn Trowbridge and Gabby Costa in the 200 freestyle relay; Avery Woods in the 100 backstroke; Jordan Koszyk, Avery Woods, Alyssa Messenger, Gabby Costa, Logan Koszyk, Nicki Kilbourne, Ebba Fox and Lauryn Trowbridge in the 400 freestyle relay.
