Girls Swim/Dive: Christianson wins 3 state titles, Penn finishes as State Runner-up

The Penn Girls Swim Team wrapped up the state meet by achieving its season long goal of becoming state runner-up.

Lily Christianson led the Lady Kingsmen by winning State Championships in the 50 and 100 freestyle while also setting a new state record in the 50 freestyle. Christianson, a Northern Carolina State commit, has now won six State Championships in her four-year career.

Kaia Podlin placed 3rd in the 50 freestyle and 9th in the 100 butterfly. Alayna Riggins placed 6th in the 100 fly and 10th in the 50 free. Molly Barnes placed 12th in the 100 free and 15th in the 200 free. Avery Woods placed 19th in the 100 fly. Lauren Mcgrath placed 10th in the 200 IM and 23rd in the 100 back. Finally, Anika Guenther placed 8th in the 100 breaststroke.

Penn’s 200 medley relay consisting of Avery Woods, Anika Guenther, Alayana Riggins, and Lily Christianson placed 2nd and also broke their school record set last year. Swimming on the 200 free relay and placing 1st was Kaia Podlin, Alayna Riggins, Molly Barnes, and Lily Christianson. The Lady Kingsmen wrapped up the state meet with placing 5th in the 400 free relay swam by Kaia Podlin, Lauren McGrath, Anika Guenther, and Molly Barnes.
