The No. 6 Penn Kingsmen faced off against No. 8 Carroll Chargers on Tuesday, Sept. 5, scoring a 4-1 victory in the clash of state powers.
Carroll came into the game undefeated but with the Kingsmen’s strong offensive attack, they left with their first loss of the season.
The first person on the board was Penn sophomore defender Rowan Moore, followed by junior forward Emma Heintzelman, sophomore forward Izzy Persyn (assisted by freshman Emily Keegan), and sophomore midfielder Nadia Hernandez.
The Kingsmen had a 3-0 lead before the Chargers joined them on the score sheet.
The Kingsmen ended the game 4-1, making a statement to the rest of the state that they are a force. It was a great confidence boost for the young Penn team especially as they head into Senior Night the following day (Wednesday, Sept. 6) against a familiar foe and Northern Indiana Conference opponent Elkhart.
