Anika Guenther’s hat trick helped the Penn Kingsmen Girls Soccer team move on to the Sectional Championship match.
The Kingsmen faced off against South Bend John Adams Eagles in the sectional semifinal game. The Kingsmen beat the Eagles earlier in the season 5-2 and returned again to beat them 3-0 in the semi-final game.
Adams was able to hold off the Penn attack for the first half but the Kingsmen got onto the scoreboard just 30 seconds into the second half with a goal by Guenther, a Junior Forward. Guenther then capitalized on two more opportunities, giving her all three goals in the 3-0 win over Adams.
The Kingsmen were set to play the winner of the South Bend Saint Joseph and LaPorte game that followed in the sectional finals that Saturday.
