On Saturday April 15 the Penn Girls Lacrosse team had an electrifying game against Mattawan High School. The game took place at home turf giving them the advantage to win the game 18-3. The team exhilarated, making their record 5-3.
“It was electric the way we just played together. It was not like a one man show, we all worked together to get us to crush Mattawan,” said Lyla Sharpe.
The Lady Kingsmen were on a grind with Sharpe scoring 6 goals, Taylor Little scoring 4 goals, Abby Atkins scoring 3 goals, Sammi Houttikier and Lana Skibins scoring 2 goals, and Ellie Cano scoring 1 goal.
“We came on to that field with fire under our butts, after I won that first draw and that first goal was scored. I just knew that we were going to take on this win,” said Little.
“We started a little rough right before our game but something flipped in all of us. Our team knows each other well enough that we have our backs for any circumstance when we go out on that field and this case it was an easy dub for us,” says Atkins.
The grind doesn’t stop for the hard working Kingsmen, their next upcoming game is against Noblesville on April 29.
