Girls Basketball: Dawson, Sanderson lead Penn to title in NIC showdown

Penn blasts St. Joe 69-45 to clinch NIC championship

Alivia Dawson and Jillian Sanderson scored 22 points each and Penn claimed the Northern Indiana Conference Championship in Girls Basketball with a 69-24 victory against South Bend St. Joseph.

Dawson’s 22 points is a career-high.

Penn finishes the NIC season with a perfect 7-0 record. The No. 14-ranked Kingsmen are 19-3 overall.

St. Joe is 17-4 overall and 5-2 in the NIC.

Lexi Werner scored 11 points and Anna McCullough contributed eight points.

Penn blasted off to a 27-5 lead in the first quarter.
