Getting to Know: Sarah Noto

What do you love most about your sport?: I would say I love the people the most. I’ve made so many friends over the years that I never would have met if not for volleyball. Every year the team is different, gaining freshmen and losing seniors, this opportunity allows new friendships to be formed every year which is something I love.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?: I personally do not.

What has been your favorite moment so far this season?: My favorite memory so far this season has been kids camp this summer. Getting to work with young kids and helping them love volleyball is something that never gets old.

What player at any level do you look up to most?: I would have to say, Harper Murray, a Freshman at the University of Nebraska.

What are some personal or team goals you have as you continue your season?: Some personal goals of mine are to work on my shot selection in order to increase my hitting percentage, as far as team goals we are working towards winning sectionals and going as far as possible this season.

If you could give one piece of advice to a freshman in Penn Athletics what would it be?: My piece of advice would be to put yourself out there. The experience is much more enjoyable if you are willing to meet new people, be silly, and just focus mostly on having fun. At the end of the day it’s a game and enjoying your high school seasons is super important!

What’s your favorite sports movie and why?: The Mighty Ducks because it is all about the idea of team comeraderie and having fun is more important than a winning record. I think this is a great message that should be spread more throughout the sports community, winning will come with having fun and playing as a team.

What are your best tips for balancing school and athletics at Penn?: I would say time management is super important. If you’re given time in class make sure you use it and plan your schedule around games and practices to allow yourself time to complete your assignments well and on time.

How long have you been playing volleyball?: I have been playing since 8th grade.

Why do you enjoy being a student-athlete here at Penn?: I love getting to experience home games after school and being able to spend time with my teammates before big games.
