Reagan is a senior on the Penn Girls Soccer team. She has played all four years at Penn.
How long have you been playing soccer?
¨I have played soccer since I was 4 or 5 years old. I played at MSA and then moved to Jr. Irish in middle school.¨
In your opinion, how has the soccer season been so far?
¨I think this team has a lot of heart this season and we have had a lot of unexpected results from the first few games. I think we are a hardworking group that cares a lot about this sport and winning.¨
What has your team done in preparation for the season?
¨Everyone here has been working really hard during and even outside of practice. We have had a lot of challenging and long practices. We have done lots of conditioning too. Sometimes we also watch films of our games or practices and see how we can improve the little things like communication and energy.¨
What do you think your team is capable of accomplishing this year?
¨I think we can definitely keep our state record going of consecutive sectional titles. I also don´t think us going to state is out of the picture just because of how hard we have been working.¨
Do you prefer school or travel season and why?
¨I prefer travel season because I like the smaller team. I think its easier to develop better relationships and friendships with my teammates and coaches because there is less of us. In club, we also spend more time working on tactical pieces and I really like doing that.¨
What do you believe is a weakness your team might have?
¨We definitely get in our own heads a lot. Most of the time we are good about being encouraging and uplifting but sometimes we arent when mistakes are made.¨
What is Dino Day?
¨Dino Day is kind of like a competition day with fun games. Our coach put it together as a way to bring up our competitive spirits and make us all closer to each other. We split up into teams and make fun names and we play random games, some soccer related and some not. Your team can win points and the winning team gets to take home this dinosaur head on a stick and decorate him.¨
Do you prefer lifting practices or soccer practices?
¨Honestly, I can´t decide. I enjoy both because they are so different its hard to choose a favorite. They are different forms of movement and exercise that help us be better players and I enjoy both of them.¨
What is something skill-wise you have improved on in the last year?
¨I think I have gotten a lot better in the middle of the field. My first touch has gotten a lot better and I’m able to make better passes and plays than I used to.¨
What is something you still need to improve on?
¨I definitely need to improve my confidence. I get worried about letting people down so I play kind of scared. I don´t play the way i need to play in order to be successful, I play kind of conservatively.¨
