Sophomore Izzy Persyn, a forward for the Penn girl’s soccer team, has been playing soccer since she was five-years-old.
Along with the influence of her favorite player Julie Ertz, she started playing soccer because she grew up around family friends who played the sport and she thought it seemed fun. Since then, her love for the game has grown.
Her pre-game rituals include drinking a yellow Gatorade and listening to “Beauty and a Beat” by Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj.
Izzy’s favorite things about the game include her teammates and how playing relieves her stress after a long day at school. Her favorite soccer memory is driving home from Ball State camp through a storm with the seniors her freshman year.
After suffering an ACL tear before her freshman year season, Izzy is most excited to return to the field and play soccer with her friends. She is most excited to play against Saint Joe because it is a tough rival game and a lot of her friends are on the team.
