Ella Neuenschwander is a sophomore runner for the girls cross country team.
She first began running in elementary school by joining the running club as soon as it was available and then in middle school joined the cross country team. From there she developed a passion for running and it became her full-time sport.
Her biggest challenge has been pushing herself to reach her full potential. In cross country, you must overcome that mental battle and keep pushing yourself not to give up. It’s very mind over matter. Neuenschwander gets nervous before races but has found a positive mindset.
She stated, “sometimes I definitely feel the pressure to succeed and do my best, but in the end, I’m proud of myself no matter what time I get because I was able to go out there and do the best I could”.
Her friend and teammate sophomore, Lauren Westbrook said, “I would describe her as an energetic person who always sees the positive even when it comes to the worst workouts”.
Neuenschwander’s teammates see her as a positive and outgoing person. She is known to push past her comfort zone even in the most uncomfortable situations to be the best for not only herself but for her whole team. Her dedication is unmatched, she always shows up to practices no matter if it’s in season or out of season to show her support for her team.
Neuenschwander’s success is a result of her motivation.
She says, “My biggest motivation is the people in my life”.
Her parents have encouraged her from the beginning of her career when she started in elementary school and continuing through the rest of her running adventure. Her friends show up to every meet they can and help build her confidence up.
“When I am feeling down, I remember who I am running for. Yes for myself but I also do it for everyone else, my parents, friends, and team. They keep me motivated even through my lows,” said Neuenschwander.
Neuenschwander hopes to continue her success as a runner and help propel the Lady Kingsmen to a top finish at the state meet in November.
