Chance Smith is a Sophomore Football Player at Penn. He has been playing football since his eighth grade year and is now motivated to get as many varsity minutes as possible.
Outside of sports, Smith is an academic weapon. His freshman year he ended his school year with a 4.0 gpa. He works just as hard in academics as he does with sports. Smith wants to get into a good college so he pushes himself to excel in academics to achieve his goal.
“I always just think of where I wanna be in life and how hard work will always pay off in the long run, I also like to think of my teammates and how pushing myself can make them push themselves harder,” said Smith.
Smith motivates himself by remaining himself where he wants to be in life and how hard work does pay off. He pushes himself in the sports world and academics. Smith pushes himself to be an amazing athlete and an amazing player on the field. He is also a big motivation to his friends and inspires them to be better.
“I would say it pushes me to continue to work hard and become an even better player, knowing that someone on the other side of the ball is working just as hard as I am,” said teammate Braden White.
Smith’s hard work and determination encourages others on his team. He encourages people on his team to stay on it with school work. Smith being a straight A student and a good athlete motivates his teammates to do better. Him being one up on his teammates makes them try and be like or better than Smith.
“I would say that on the field he’s a strong athlete and both on and off the field he’s a good leader and does the right thing,” said White.
“I feel like I can be a very good leader so I plan to throughout the rest of my years at Penn use this to lead my team and help myself and others do what needs to be done,” said Smith.
In all, Smith is very motivated to himself and his teammates and uplifts them. By holding himself to high standards, leading by example, excels in academics. Smith’s dedication to his academics and to improve in football not only drives him but also inspires his teammates to push themselves beyond their limits and be known.
