Boys Lacrosse: Carson Bays commits to Walsh University

Published on

The next chapter of Carson Bays’ athletic and academic career is officially set in motion. Bays, a standout lacrosse player, has announced his commitment to Walsh University, where he will compete at the Division II level in one of the most competitive conferences in the country.

For Carson, the decision came down to several important factors, but above all, it was the coaching staff and team culture that stood out most.

“I just liked the culture and the coach—it felt like home,” Bays said. “They weren’t really a strong program, but when the new coach came in, they had a pretty good season, and I want to be part of building that success.”

While the program’s direction was the biggest draw, location, academics, and family connections also played important roles. Bays wanted to be within about eight hours of his home, so his parents could attend games, and Walsh fit perfectly. He also plans to study business with a focus in marketing and analytics at the university, which he described as a strong academic school. Having a sister who attended Walsh gave him familiarity with the campus and surrounding area, with plenty of restaurants and things to do outside of athletics.

Carson credited many coaches and mentors for helping him reach this milestone. He thanked his Penn Lacrosse coaches and the True Indiana staff for refining his skills. He also highlighted his time with True National (Green), where national coaches and Program Director Chris Garland guided his recruiting process and connected him with programs across the country.

“They really helped me narrow things down, and eventually I realized Walsh was the right choice,” Bays shared.

Looking ahead, Bays is excited to join a diverse group of teammates and compete at the highest level of Division II lacrosse. “I’m excited to meet new faces—guys from California, the Midwest, and the East Coast. It’s going to be a really diverse team,” he said. “Playing at the next level is something a lot of people don’t get to do, so I feel very fortunate. Plus, Walsh plays in one of the best Division II conferences, so it’s going to be great competition.”

Bays’ commitment marks the beginning of an exciting journey, both on and off the field. With his talent, determination, and strong support system, there’s no doubt he will make a meaningful impact at Walsh University.
