Boys Track: Kingsmen remain on top of the NIC

The Penn Kingsmen Boys’ Track and Field team faced some of its best competition of the season at the Northern Indiana Conference Championships.

Elkhart, Marian, New Prairie, South Bend Adams, South Bend Riley, South Bend St. Joseph and South Bend Washington, South Bend Riley, Marian all wanted to dethrone the defending champion Kingsmen at the meet.

Penn prevailed by putting together great times after great times to make the final team score of an amazing 193.5 points, outscoring second-place Elkhart by 40 points. 

Braden White broke the sophomore record for Penn by running an outstanding 50.37 in the 400-meter dash and claiming first in the event.

Aiden Probst earned the 800-meter run win (1:57.73).

Brody Lederer ran away with the 3200-meter run blue ribbon in 10:03.12.

Penn’s 4×100-meter team of Jaedon Parker, Kohen Turner, Ricky Rutland and Bryan Forbes won in a close finish. (42.35).

Penn also excelled in field events, with Chris Wright jumping a state standard and winning first place in High Jump (6-05).

Mavric Poe finished first in Pole Vault (13-0), and Jaedon Parker placed first in Long Jump (21-08). 

The Penn Kingsmen came out on top and were named the NIC Champions for the fifth year in a row.
