Getting to Know: Arnav Meda

Arnav Meda is a rising sophomore on the JV tennis team for Penn High School. He looks to make an impact and become a leader for the upcoming freshmen.

When did you start playing tennis and why?

So my athletic journey began at a young age. I started playing when I was younger but then took a break. I then started again 2 ½ years later and played more seriously after watching professional tennis, which looked fun.

Do you look up to anyone on the tennis team? Why or why not?

I look up to Chris Chen because he’s a good leader and puts his best effort into everything he does.

How do you practice your tennis skills outside of school?

I play with my coach and my family to practice my tennis skills.

What level of tennis do you want to get to?

I want to get on the varsity team in high school, then stop there.

What are some bad things about tennis?

When you start losing, your mentality worsens, then it gets less fun to play.

Have you ever been injured while playing tennis? If so, what happened?

I have never been injured while playing tennis.

How do you balance your school work while playing tennis?

I focus on tennis during tennis practice and focus on school work while I’m in the building.

Is your dominant arm affected by playing tennis?

My right arm is a lot stronger than my left arm because I swing the racket with my right arm.

What is your motivation for playing tennis?

It’s fun to play, distracts me from academics, and relieves stress.

What has been your favorite moment so far while playing tennis?

My favorite moment so far while playing tennis would probably be the feeling of winning my games.
