The Penn Boys & Girls Swim/Dive teams enjoyed a record-setting season in coach John VanDriessche’s first season.
The Penn Boys placed fifth in the state and the Penn Girls placed seventh.
Each team won Northern Indiana Conference and Sectional Championships.
Nate Temeles was named NIC Most Valuable Swimmer for the Boys, and Alayna Riggins was named Most Valuable Swimmer for the Girls. VanDriessche was named NIC Coach of the Year.
The Penn Boys scored 551 points the Sectional (a program record), and won all 11 swim events in the Sectional for the first time in program history.
The Boys and Girls combined for six new records:
- Girls 100 butterfly: Alayna Riggins 53.99
- Girls 100 backstroke: Molly Barnes 55.46
- Boys 200 freestyle: Nate Temeles 1:38.67
- Boys 100 freestyle: Nate Temeles 45.24
- Boys 100 breaststroke: Cole Stevenson 54.94
- Boys 400 Freestyle: Sawyer Wells, Gavin Crail, Nate Temeles, Matthew Weeks 3:05.46
