Boys Soccer: Evan Wilson creates opportunities for Kingsmen

Published on

Sweat ran down faces as the hot Saturday sun pressed down on Penn’s Soccer turf, but Evan Wilson barely noticed.

A midfielder for the Penn High School soccer team, Wilson was focused, reading the field, feeling every movement of the ball. When a chance opened against Top-20 ranked Homestead, Wilson surged forward, weaving between defenders before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. It was a goal that didn’t just win the game—it defined it, showing exactly why Wilson is considered one of the team’s most dominant players.

“He’s a dynamic player on the field who creates lots of chances,” teammate Lucas Eshowsky said.

Wilson’s influence stretches beyond scoring. The Kingsmen Junior moves the game, sets up teammates, and pulls defenses apart, all while staying in sync with the team around him. For Wilson, that connection comes from constant support and challenge.

“I developed the most through my teammates and coaching staff,” Wilson said. “They push me to my fullest potential and vice versa — that’s how we grow as a team.”

Penn’s culture has shaped Wilson’s mindset as much as his skills. Coaches who never let the team stay down in tough moments, paired with the high standards every player sets, pushed him to raise his own game.

“Penn has helped me become the player I am by the amazing coaches that never fail to pick our team up when we needed it,” Wilson said. “Everyone sets the bar high, and that led me to want to do the same.”

Getting to this level hasn’t been easy. Wilson’s routine is relentless: showing up, practicing even when it’s hard, always trying to improve. It’s that dedication, paired with natural talent, that makes him not just a player, but a force on the field—one who can turn a hot Saturday into a moment that the team will remember all season.
